Ex-Princess Shruti Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah Rana (1976 – 2001) is always remembered for her simplicity, politeness and generousness inspite of being only princess daughter of one of the most popular king of Nepal Late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. People who know her closely say she was shy and kind hearted person and do not have any proudness of her supremecy.

Ex-Princess Shruti Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah started her schooling from Kanti Ishwori Sishu Vidhyalaya from nursery to class five located just a kilometere away from Royal Palace in Kathmandu, Nepal. Then, she continued her further studies from class 6 in St. Mary’s School (Girls only school) and completed her School Leaving Certificate (SLC). She went to India for her Intermediate level of studies and joined Mayo College Girls School in Ajmer for two years. Then she again returned to Nepal and studied bachelors degree at Padma Kanya Campus, a girls only college for higher studies in Nepal.

She had two brothers and was younger to Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and elder to Prince Nirajan Bir Bikram Shah Dev.

She got married with Kumar Gorakh Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana who is grand son of Chandra Samsher Rana, the last Rana prime minister of Nepal at the age of twenty one. It was an arrange marriage in mutual agreement by the both the families and she went to Thamel, just few hundred meteres away from Royal Narayanhiti Palace at her spouse’s house.

She had been awarded with different prizes and awards during her life time among which Gorkha Dashain Bau Pratham and Commemorative Silver Jubilee Medal by her own father King Birendra and Special Service Award are the major ones. She had special intrest in art work and was also a good artist.

She died at her very tender age of twenty five, shot by her own elder brother Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev in an saddest royal massacare event that heppend in 2001. She was shot and was taken to Army Hospital but had suffered from excessive bleeding on the way and couldn’t be saved. She had always remained in mind of Nepalese people as a shy, kind and generous princess of Nepal.
